Prof. Carlos Delgado Kloos and Dr. Carlos Alario-Hoyos, partners of the ECOCredGT project, played a prominent role at the 12th IEEE DEMOcon International Conference on Digital Education and MOOCs, held in Timișoara, Romania, under the theme “Digital Education Ecosystems: Harnessing MOOCs, AI, and Microcredentials.”
During the conference, the researchers presented four scientific contributions focused on microcredentials, artificial intelligence, learning analytics, and employability, sharing research findings and experiences aimed at advancing higher education and educational innovation.
The contributions presented included:
- “Subpopulation-Specific Modeling for Predicting Dropout and Success: Improving Accuracy and Fairness in Online Courses” — Dr. Pedro Manuel Moreno-Marcos, Laura Segura-Mayordomo, Dr. Pedro J. Muñoz-Merino, and Prof. Carlos Delgado Kloos.
- “A Self-Correcting Multi-Agent System for Designing Microcredential Specifications” — Rebiha Kemcha, Dr. Carlos Alario-Hoyos, and Prof. Carlos Delgado Kloos.
- “Enhancing Employability Through Digital Microcredentials: Lessons Learned from Latin America and the Caribbean” — Dr. Carlos Alario-Hoyos, Prof. Carlos Delgado Kloos, and collaborators from the MOCHILA project (Microcredentials in Higher Education for Latin America and the Caribbean).
In addition, Dr. Carlos Alario-Hoyos was a co-author of the paper “Stakeholder Perceptions of Micro-Credentials in Latin American Higher Education: A Computational Qualitative Analysis,” presented in collaboration with research teams from Tecnológico de Monterrey, Instituto Politécnico Nacional, and other higher education institutions across the region.
This participation reaffirms the leadership of the ECOCredGT project partners in international research forums and contributes to the generation and dissemination of knowledge on digital learning ecosystems and microcredentials, fostering innovation in higher education.
