A working meeting was held at the Delegation of the European Union in Guatemala to strengthen cooperation among Erasmus+ VET projects, with the aim of promoting actions that contribute to improving employability and vocational training in the country.
During the session, the projects INNOVET LATAM (“Innovative Vocational Training Experiences in Latin America”) and ECOCredGT (“Towards a Digital Credentials Ecosystem for Strengthening Employment Generation Initiatives”) were presented. Both initiatives, funded by the European Union, seek to promote educational innovation and digital transformation in technical and vocational education in Latin America.
Representatives of the European Union Delegation in Guatemala also shared information about the Decent Employment Support Program (PED), an initiative aimed at improving working conditions and addressing poverty in Guatemala through three key pillars:
- Institutional strengthening
- Training and capacity-building
- Support for MSMEs
These meetings mark the beginning of a valuable collaboration in which ECOCredGT aims to contribute good practices in the issuance and management of digital credentials, thus supporting the development of a national ecosystem for entrepreneurship and job creation. The meeting also included participation from Fundación Pro Verde and the Conecta Europa project.
Representing the ECOCredGT project, Lic. Eduardo Véliz from Fundación Kinal and Dr. Héctor Amado from Universidad Galileo shared the project’s progress and objectives, focused on strengthening the capacities of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions toward digital transformation and skills recognition through digital credentials.
